Top squash professionals from all over the world will converge on London, Ontario from Sept. 22 to 27 to compete in the 2014 NASH Cup at London Squash & Fitness in downtown London. A men’s purse of $15,000 and a women’s purse of $5,000 have attracted a spectacular pool of talent who will battle in single elimination competition.
The NASH Cup has been won by players from Canada, the USA, England, Colombia, the Czech Republic, and Pakistan. This year, 17 countries are represented with players hailing from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, the British Virgin Islands, Chili, Egypt, Germany, Guyana, Mexico, Norway, Slovakia, Trinidad and Wales. All competitors will be looking to add their flags to the trophy.
PSA – Professional Squash Association
A rematch of the 2013 final is possible with both England’s Joe Lee (top seed) and Canada’s Shawn Delierre (3rd seed) returning. Both are past champions and will be battling to be the first to claim the cup twice.
Matthew Serediak returns as the only player to compete in six NASH Cups. His current rank of 115 is a career best and he will be starting as one of the top seeds in the men’s qualifier draw.
After a three-year hiatus, Dane Sharp, Canada’s second-highest ranked player at 84, will return to the NASH Cup. Dane has come a long way since his first appearance in 2008 when he was ranked 238th globally.
There are a large number of first time entrants this year, with Germany, Wales, and the British Virgin Islands being represented in the draw for the first time.
Eighteen-year-old Graham Parker is one to watch from England (world rank 186)
WSA – Women’s Squash Association
Lisa Aitken of England leads a very strong women’s draw featuring nine of the world’s top 90 players. With eight players ranked between 68 and 86 in the world, spectators can expect a very hard fought main draw.
The Canadian field includes returning players Hollie Naughton, Nikki Todd, and Micaala Seth, along with rising stars Melina Turk and 16-year-old Chloe Chemlob.
Our local entries are the strongest ever assembled, and spectators can expect some hard fought matches in both draws from start to finish. Tickets are limited, and some nights are already nearly sold out.
