Western Mustangs 2015 Football Schedule Announced

HAMILTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced the 2015 football schedule today, detailing the path the Western Mustangs need to take as they attempt to win the 31st Yates Cup championship and seventh Vanier Cup in program history.
The Western Mustangs will begin their quest for the Yates Cup title on August 30 as they head on the road to face the Windsor Lancers. The Mustangs will be looking to get the season off to a good start as they aim to repeat the success they had against the Lancers last season, when they defeated Windsor 43-21 to close out the regular season.
Western then returns to TD Stadium for the team’s home opener on September 7 as they host the York Lions. Following the team’s home opener the Mustangs will square off with the Laurier Golden Hawks in a rematch of last year’s OUA Quarterfinal, before returning home for an exciting matchup against the rival Queen’s Gaels on September 19.
Week five features Western’s annual Homecoming Weekend game on September 26 when the Mustangs will play host to the Carleton Ravens in the second matchup between the two teams since Carleton returned to the league in 2013.
After Homecoming the Mustangs will have a bye week to rest and recover before beginning the final stretch of the season that begins with a road contest against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Thursday, October 8. Rounding out Western’s regular season schedule is a home contest against the Ottawa Gee-Gees in week eight, before the team closes out the season in Hamilton against the McMaster Marauders on October 24.
