The highly anticipated arrival of Little Kickers to London is finally over! Beginning May 14, Little Kickers will be introducing its unique brand of pressure-free/fun soccer classes to young children of London, aged 18 months to 5 years old.
The Little Kickers program was developed in England by FA (England’s national governing body for soccer) qualified coaches in conjunction with nursery school teachers to ensure that children’s developmental objectives were successfully interwoven with age-appropriate soccer skills.
The program was established in 2002, and one of the key reasons the company was founded was to halt the increase in childhood obesity by providing the youngest kids in society with the opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of sport. Children who are obese are more likely to become adults who are obese. As children get older, this likelihood increases. By the time obese children reach the age of 6 years, their probability of becoming obese adults is more than 50%. Meanwhile, obese adolescents have a 70-80% chance of remaining obese when they become adults, so the importance of getting children involved in sport at a young age cannot be understated.
Little Kickers is the world’s largest preschool soccer academy with a network of over 1,500 coaches in 16 different countries. Their classes have been designed so that in addition to receiving a sound basic instruction in soccer from qualified coaches, children are also provided with a fun, positive introduction to sport.
Little Kickers classes run year-round. For the summer, classes will be held outdoors at Springbank Park and Whetherfield Park before going indoors in the fall. For more information, or to enroll your Little Kicker, please visit our website at www.littlekickers.ca or call our hotline: 226-980-8909.
