Make a splash this summer!

The London Majors will have several key returning players for the 2019 season, as well as some new faces as they seek to win their first Intercounty Baseball League championship since 1975.

As the winter season progresses, exciting things are happening at Forest City Diving Club. Not only have our National divers been honing their skills in preparation for Provincial meets, including one hosted in London at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre (March 1-3), but our Aspire 1 and 2 group, as well as our Precompetitive divers have also been progressing very well.

FCDC divers have brought home numerous medals and achieved top 10 performances at meets throughout the season. National or Provincial level training camps have given our divers the opportunity to work on their skills, progress, and enter competitions with the best possible preparation. And now, coaches (Luda Zakharenko and Wing Yun Hu) are happy to report they have added a new valuable member to the coaching staff. Jorge Pupo, former coach of the Thunderbay Dive Team, has joined the FCDC community. Jorge and his family now call London their home, and he is happy to bring his expertise to our divers. Welcome, Jorge and family!

For aspiring divers, we are pleased to offer our 2019 FCDC Summer Camp, held at the Canada Games Aquatic Center (at 1045 Wonderland Road). The camp will run in one-week segments (for six weeks) from July 8 to August 23. We offer children aged 6 to 13 the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of diving, pool safety, and dryland training. The coaches specifically selected to run our camp are enthusiastic about providing a safe and enjoyable environment in which to learn and play – and make new friends! Our camp is for children eager to develop diving skills but who also love to have fun and make new friends.

Campers will get the chance to jump off the 1- and 3-meter diving boards, as well as the tower (depending on their skill levels). A typical day at camp starts at 8:30 am (early drop-off is available) or 9:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm (late pick-up available until 5:30 pm). After warm-up, the morning diving session runs from 9:45 to 11:00 am, followed by crafts, fun and games – and, of course, lunch. The afternoon involves dryland exercises and ends with water time from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

Attending the camp is also a great way to learn more about the FCDC program and what diving could offer your child in the future (we also provide learn-to-dive classes and camps throughout the year). Whether you have never tried the amazing sport of diving before, or you would like to improve your current dives and skills, all campers will receive individual instruction and feedback from our coaches. But most of all, campers will enjoy time spent in the water, in dryland training, and participating in fun activities.
