The 2018-2019 National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) season tips off in mid-November, and the London Lightning are looking to make headlines – all season long. The Lightning could become the first team in league history to win three straight league championships (the Lightning actually had this opportunity once before, back in 2013-2014).

This season will bring plenty of excitement for Lightning fans. With a mix of new and old faces, the Lightning are expecting once again to be a contender throughout the year. Returning veterans Martin Dixon-Green and Kirk Williams Jr. will be joined by new talents Kevin Ware, AJ Gaines, and Jelan Kendrick, to name a few. Returning head coach Keith Vassell is also very optimistic about the season.

“We worked hard in the offseason to put together another strong team,” said Vassell. “We have a very talented group who has a strong desire to win. We’re going to be an exciting team to watch.”

The Lightning will be facing a new opponent this season, as Sudbury is the newest city to join the league. The first look to see the Sudbury Five in London will be on January 6, 2019 when the Five will take on the Lightning at Budweiser Gardens.

The Lightning regular season runs from November 18 (a home game against the St. John’s Edge) until March 31 (a home contest against the rival Windsor Express). For tickets and more information about the London Lightning, visit www.lightningbasketball.ca and follow us on social media!
