The London Aquatic Club kicked off its summer competition phase by winning the overall team title at the Western Region Championships held June 6-8 at Brock University in St. Catharines. LAC finished 300 points ahead of its nearest competitor, Guelph, as 25 different swimmers collected a total of 64 medals and another 18 swimmers finished in the top 8.

The Western Region Championships signaled the start of a very busy racing schedule, with meets every weekend except one between early June and late July. The last meet on the calendar is the Canadian Age Group Championships in Winnipeg. Before then, LAC will have swimmers at competitions in London, Ottawa, Montreal, Brantford, and Saskatoon.

LAC has not been deterred by the temporary closing of its main training site (the Canada Games Aquatic Centre), as it undergoes renovations. Instead, between competitions, the club’s 250+ swimmers have been travelling all over London to various facilities to ensure that their training programs are being maintained and that every swimmer can continue to progress toward his/her goals.
