London Blue Devils house league lacrosse wrapped up its season on June 24 with its annual Day of Champions event. Twenty teams, with athletes as young as four years old, participated in the event held at Kinsman Arena in London, Ontario.

The London Blue Devils house league program is a two-month season that begins in mid-April. The program is divided into three components: A short evaluation period that allows coaches to create fair, competitive teams; an exhibition season, where athletes better learn the game of lacrosse and develop their skills; and the regular season, which determines the team rankings in each division. These rankings are then used for the culminating Day of Champions event held at the end of June each year.

Lacrosse is an exciting, fast-paced sport that develops many physical skills that are used in a wide variety of other sports. Because of its short season, lacrosse is also a fantastic cross-training activity. In fact, Hockey Canada recognizes lacrosse as the number one sport to help hockey players get better (see: www.activeforlife.com/hockey-canadas-top-6-off-ice-sports-and-activities/).
