The London Aquatic Club (LAC) once again prevailed at the Western Ontario Swimming Association Regional Championships Feb. 2-4 at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.

LAC was crowned the overall team champion for the 5th consecutive season, topping teams from Guelph, Hamilton, Windsor and Waterloo. There were over 1,100 swimmers who competed over the very busy 3-day event, and out of the 100 LAC swimmers competing, 37 collected a total of 99 medals in individual events (36 gold, 26 silver, and 37 bronze), while another 20 swimmers finished in the top 8 to score points for their team. Meanwhile, 21 LAC swimmers achieved personal bests.

The competition was a huge undertaking, probably one of the biggest events that will occur in Ontario – and perhaps Canada – this year, and it would not have happened without the tremendous team of parent volunteers which LAC boasts. This was easily the largest event ever hosted at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.

Next up for LAC swimmers are the provincial championship events in Ottawa, Etobicoke and Markham, as well as national events in Montreal and Windsor.
