‘Attitude and Effort.’ That’s been the motto for the London Devilettes Atom A team during the 2019-2020 season, and each of the girls on the squad has worked hard to improve in both areas throughout the year. Playing in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League, the Atom A Devilettes have also competed in a few tournaments this year, including the 30th anniversary Devilettes Tournament, where they won a pair of games.

Following regular season action, the girls entered the Ontario playdowns in February and into March. They’ve achieved a lot in 2019-2020 – both on and off the ice.

“First and foremost, the goal has been to have fun,” says Todd Linton, the team’s coach. “I believe it’s important to grow the girls’ passion for the game.”

The team also set a goal to develop a culture that would foster individual player development, while also working on team skills and learning to depend on one another.

Girls hockey has had a positive impact for so many in London, specifically through organizations like the Devilettes, and Linton thinks there is so much young girls can gain through playing the sport.

“I believe hockey is the single best game one can play. It demands strength, skill, intelligence, and the need to make decisions extremely quickly,” says Linton, who has been with the Devilettes program for four years. “Organizations like the London Devilettes offer an opportunity for girls to learn, grow and challenge themselves with their peers who share a same passion.”
