The Forest City Diving Club (FCDC) had continued success at its latest meet that, as the Tier I team traveled to Windsor, Ontario to compete at the Summer Provincial Championships at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre. This was the last Ontario Jr. and Sr. qualifier for the National Championships, which will take place in July.

Making a strong presence on the podium, all divers continued to demonstrate the success of their training received here in London, Ontario under the guidance of coaches Ioana Marinescu and Luda Zakharenko. Not surprisingly, all maintained their qualifying scores, with some divers achieving yet again new personal bests. Al’x Pierre, Faith Zacharias and Camryn Hughes each earned outstanding diver awards, while Joshua Inglis earned outstanding synchronized 3m with Victor Povzner (Optimal Diving), and Luda earned the award for outstanding coach.

FCDC also hosted the Provincial Tier II Championship held at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre here in London on June 13-14. Over 60 divers from clubs across Ontario traveled to the Forest City to participate in the event. There was also a group of Master Level divers who came from as far east as Quebec to compete with our very own master level diver, Nancy Beheme. FCDC would like to thank all the parents for their donations and time to make the event a success.

Moving forward, the Jr. Tier I divers, consisting of Camryn Hughes, Nathan Marshall, Julia Parybak and Katelyn Fung, will head to Quebec City for the Speedo Junior Development National Championships July 3-5. The Sr. Tier I divers, Brittany Haskell, Al’x Pierre, Jamie Dutz, Anika Holland, Faith Zacharias, and Joshua Inglis, will travel to Edmonton, Alberta for the Speedo Junior Elite National Championships from July 17-19.

While both groups will meet up with their respective cohorts from across Canada, each FCDC diver recognizes that they are their own toughest competitor. The club recognizes the hard work these young athletes and their coaches have put forth to achieve their success and determination to strive to be the best that they can be in their chosen sport.
