The 2015 Elgin Middlesex Soccer Association’s outdoor soccer season started on schedule and is progressing well. Each league has played several games, and it appears that the competition in some divisions is as strong as ever. Competition in the Kick-Off Cup, which was organized by the Western Ontario Youth Soccer League (WOYSL), took place on the weekend of May 16-17 and saw the EMSA girls playing in Tillsonburg and the boys playing in Windsor. The competition was strong in both groups.

The Ontario Cup draw has taken place and the schedule shows a strong representation of clubs from our District, both in the Preliminary Tournament Round and also in the Round Robin Tournaments. Later in the season we will also see good competition in the Challenge Cup hosted by London District Youth Soccer League (LDYSL).

Our District will be putting forward a proposal to launch a Youth Development League, so that players will have an opportunity to be exposed to other players of similar skill level. This League will be based on the Matrices as presented in Long-Term Athlete Development model (LTAD).

We continue to explore opportunities with partnerships, which will present a clear and distinctive pathway for the young players in our District.
