We are excited and impressed by the potential and performance of the 2015-16 Forest City Volleyball Club boys teams! FCVC is committed to providing the highest calibre coaching possible to ensure that our young athletes develop their skills and their love of volleyball, and that our elite senior athletes have access to regional, provincial and national programs, as well as post-secondary volleyball programs in both Canada and the United States.

Forest City U13 boys have had a great first half of the season while learning and competing every time they take the court. The U13s have finished fifth in two OVA tournaments thus far and continue to show good sportsmanship and strong teamwork. The boys are working hard at practice preparing for OVA Provincials in April.

The Forest City U14 Boys program is in full swing with our FC Blue and FC Green travelling team. Building on a fifth-place finish in Tier 2 last year at the Provincial Championships, the boys won bronze medals at their first two tournaments and finished fourth playing up in the U15 McGregor Cup. The coaching staff is extremely excited at the potential this group brings to the future of our FC Boys Program. Look for them to be at or near the top for years to come.

The Forest City U15 Boys program has attempted to develop its Green and Blue teams this year through a process that encourages both teamwork and competitive spirit. Rather than determining set team rosters at the end of September, the coaches decided to invite 18 athletes into a months-long program where they would all train together and only separate into specific rosters for the single-day OVA tournaments. The experiment seems to be paying off, as players have continuously pushed themselves and each other to improve, and 14 of the 18 athletes have won medals in U15 and U16 tournaments.

The FCVC 18U Boys participated in their third OVA tournament on Jan. 30, traveling to Chatham to play in the McGregor Cup hosted by the Ballhawks. The team is showing progress, and the fruits of their labour came to bear during that tournament. The boys had an outstanding weekend, losing to only one team the entire day, a hard fought match in the finals. It was a great team effort en route to a silver medal.

Congratulations to all of our Forest City Volleyball teams. We look forward to seeing continued success on the court from all of our athletes!
