The Dutton Bantam Fastball team had a summer they won’t soon forget. Opening the season in an ORSA tournament in Burgessville, they went 4-0 with some great ball being played. They then advanced on to play in two OASA tournaments, Eliminations and Provincials, where they played against some very tough competition.
The Ontario Summer Games in Mississauga ended up being a great experience for all the players. The Opening Ceremonies were truly something to see, as all the teams participating were paraded in as true athletes. The Dutton boys won their opening game on Friday. Saturday brought a real rain event that cancelled the games until Sunday. That meant a full day of fastball to get all the games in from the previous day. Playing their first game against Oil Springs, the boys won 10-0. Then they went on to win in the finals, 6-3, in what was a close and exciting game. The win earned the boys a Gold Medal!
To top off their season, the Dutton Bantams became ORSA Champions, beating out rivals Oil Springs in the final game of the series in extra innings. Great year, boys! A big thank you goes out to the team’s coaches and sponsor, Carr Shell.
