The past month and a half for Cleats for Kids has been an unbelievable whirlwind thanks to our wonderful volunteers and sponsors. Not only has our official charitable status finally been confirmed, but we now have our own storage locker full of gear! Our volunteers got together and organized everything, making it easier to locate requested items. And this organization helped immediately when Glen Kurti, of iCAN Play Canada contacted us about an upcoming trip he was planning to Ethiopia. We were able to donate 100 pairs of cleats and enjoy the amazing feeling of seeing your donations put to use!

May also had us host our very first barbecue of the season, thanks to the St. Thomas Superstore. While our volunteers made burgers, the London Jr. Mustangs Peewee football team bagged groceries for tips, which they in turn donated back to Cleats for Kids (CFK). It was quite a successful afternoon with over $700 being raised! We’re honoured to be in the company of such devoted individuals who believe in our cause. For more information on what we’re up to, please feel free to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

CFK has also started our Gearbox initiative, setting up donation boxes throughout London and St Thomas. We currently have a box at Western University thanks to Coach Greg Marshall, and another in St Thomas at Format Industries. We will also have Gearboxes set up at all London YMCA Locations by the end of June.

Congratulations goes out to our April and May Athlete of the Month award winners. Coaches: to nominate a deserving athlete, please email us at info@cleatsforkidslondon.com (donations or cleat requests can be made at the same address). Cleats for Kids London is now in our third year thanks to the generosity of Londoners. We hope to continue to grow and help more children get in the game! If you have items to donate or are interested in making a donation, please feel free to email us and we will get right back to you.
