Krista Smith has been playing ball hockey since 2010. She originally started playing indoors, but switched to Ball Hockey International’s co-ed once she heard of its existence. Now, she’s in her fourth year playing with her current team, FMC. The squad consists of friends, and Krista says it’s an all-around positive experience.

“What makes our team so amazing is that we come to have fun,” Smith said. “Everyone passes to each other, the guys on the team set up our girls for goals… we do play to win, but not in a super competitive way.”

Smith, whose team also plays in the Dave Richards co-ed tournament each year, says she looks forward to Friday nights when she grabs her gear and heads out for some fun.

“This is where I have a great time playing ball hockey, having some laughs, and spending time with friends,” Smith said. “I joined BHI to have fun, and my experience has always been a positive one.”

Smith actually describes BHI as a family.

“Everyone knows each other, and if someone new joins a team everyone helps to make them feel welcome,” she said. “We all share laughs together. It doesn’t matter what team you play for, or what skill level you are, we are all welcoming.

“I’m looking forward to enjoying many more BHI seasons to come!”
