Although it’s difficult to think about baseball with snow in the air, plans are well under way for the 66th season of Eager Beaver Baseball (EBBA), which is proud to be the longest-running minor sports association in London. EBBA has introduced the great game of baseball to thousands of London youth over the years, providing organized games and practices for players as young as 4 years old right up to 21.
Each season, house league teams from Rookie to Junior divisions take to the fields in May, and continue through playoffs in August. EBBA has adopted Mornington Park, off of Oxford St. as its home field for the Little Slugger, TBall, Rookie, Mosquito and PeeWee divisions. Ongoing park improvements, funded by both the league and the City, have created three first-rate baseball diamonds, a new playground, and the Mornington Park Dugout – a building with potable washrooms and a concession booth.
The home park for Bantam and Midget divisions for the 2020 season will be at Citywide. EBBA’s vision is to eventually have all divisions play out of Mornington Park, and each year we get a little bit closer – with special thanks to all the volunteers.
Online registration opened Jan. 1, 2020, and it closes March 31. Our first in-person registration is Sat. January 25 from 10am-2pm (a $10 early bird discount expires Jan. 25). The final in-person registration is Sat. March 21 from 10am-2pm. Registrations are held at our league office on 652 Elizabeth St.
Free indoor clinics (for registered players) begin in January and run once a week until the end of April for Rookie through Midget divisions.
Volunteers and coaches are always needed to make EBBA’s even better! For more information on helping during the 2020 season, visit the league website at ebba.ca or email info@ebba.ca.
