There is now another option for Novice girls (b. 2005/2006) who are looking to play competitive fastpitch softball in the London area. Currently based out of Delaware (in the DKMB Association), the RiverCats finished their inaugural season with a 3-1-1 record at the Provincials in Barrie in August.
The RiverCats offer a great opportunity to play competitive softball – without the high costs and excessive travel for parents. If you are looking for a blend of good fastball but, like many parents, value the precious summer weekends, then the RiverCats are the team for you. Although not a part of the Grand Valley or Huron-Perth league, the team competes in five or six tournaments per season within the Provincial Women’s Softball Association of Ontario (PWSA), primarily in the Western-Ontario region.
In addition to tournaments, the RiverCats play in a dozen or so exhibition games during the season. The typical summer week includes two practices or a practice plus a game. The team is not just about skill development and winning. The coaching staff places great emphasis on creating a positive experience for all the girls. The team has a focus on respectful conduct, being a good teammate and, of course, having fun!
Tryouts for the 2019 season will be announced shortly. Please contact coach Ryan Griffith (rg10599@icloud.com) or Jodi Sinclair at (jodi.sinclair@rogers.com) for additional information.
