Is there such a thing as an educational sport? At Kids Learn and Play, we say yes!

In fact, Kids Learn and Play is leading the Physical Literacy – stay ACTIVE For Life crusade in London, and you can get your child involved in our Spring and Summer Outdoor Soccer Skills Development Clinic or our ACTIVE! Summer Camp programs and help instil in your child the idea of activity and exercise for life!

The practice of at least one sport is essential for children’s healthy body, healthy mind development. This is a process that starts with the development of fundamental movement skills from an early age. Simple and fun repetitions like balancing, kicking, throwing, catching and many more are essential movements that children start developing even before they start walking!

We are born to move! Some of the benefits of movement for our bodies include: “a better brain, better muscles, better bones, a better heart, a better social life and better psychology, as well as a lower burden on healthcare and more productivity.” (Sherman, Chris. Parks and Recreation Ontario & Canadian Sport4Life, February 2015).

At Kids Learn and Play, we believe that by helping children develop those fundamental movement skills at our sport skill development programs, participants will be able to learn one sport or more, practice it and feel confident and successful doing it! It is also Canadian evidence-based research-proven that children that acquire progressive mastery levels in a sport tend to stay active for life!

Currently, the average time a Canadian child spends in front of screens in general is around 7.5 hours each day. Moreover, 1 in 3 children and youth, and 2 in 3 adults in London, here, today are overweight or obese. We all can do better to start reversing these trends.

For more information on how to reverse these trends, or to register your child for Spring and Summer Quality Soccer Skills Development Clinic or ACTIVE! Summer Camps, contact us today at: info@kidslearnandplay.ca.
