The 2018 baseball season is almost upon us, and thousands of young athletes from across the London District Baseball Association (LDBA) are waiting for the first hint of green scattered amongst the snow on our city diamonds.

The 2017 season proved to be another very successful year for the LDBA and its affiliates, and with warmer weather on the horizon, it won’t be long before we hear the call of ‘Play Ball!’ from our local umpires.

All affiliates of the LDBA currently have their registrations open and are in full swing. Kids are signing up in droves, and all organizations are busy planning this year’s teams. Winter workouts are also up and running for most organizations, and this is a great opportunity for athletes of all levels – from House League to Competitive – to get some extra work in and get their arm ready for the season ahead.

Winter workouts consist of strength and conditioning, skills analysis, and dynamic stretching, which will aid all those in their baseball aspirations. However, one of the most important aspects of winter workouts is the ability to make new friends and work as part of a team in an effort to improve – both individually and as a collective unit. If you are interested in joining your home association’s winter workouts, please visit their website for registration.

All competitive programs across the LDBA and surrounding area are currently accepting registrations for their rep teams as well. The LDBA has a top-notch competitive program, and numbers have increased year over year since 2014. In 2018, we expect to field as many or more teams across all levels than ever before.

If you are interested in trying out for an LDBA rep team but do not know which team you should be trying out for, please visit www.ldbabaseball.ca/Pages/1190/Boundaries and enter your postal code. This will tell you your home association. Please remember that these boundaries have been set by LDBA and you must try out for your home association before being eligible for another.
