Another year of EBBA baseball is ahead, with an eager group of players and volunteers. There are many new faces, and many returning faces. And there’s always a need for more volunteer help in operating London’s longest-running youth sports program.

Interested in volunteering? Consider what Keith Blois, convener for the Little Slugger division, has to say about his own experiences: “For the past few years, I have volunteered at various positions within EBBA and many parents ask why I do it, or remark at how good I am at it,” Blois says. “The truth is, like many volunteers, I had very little idea what I was doing when I first volunteered to join EBBA. How do I coach? How will the kids react to me? What kind of support will I get? These are all typical and normal questions to ask yourself. However, you quickly realize that as long as you are there for the right reasons, you enjoy baseball, and you want to make things better for your child, you will succeed – and it is very rewarding. The joy on the kids’ faces, making a difference in your child’s sports interest, the high fives, the thankyous, and the laughter are all amazing.”

EBBA is the longest running youth sports program in London, Ontario, and its longevity is no accident. The returning volunteers work with the new volunteers to ensure that every child is given the best experience possible. They put the children first and are really there for the kids.

Registration is open until March 31. EBBA offers a house league baseball program for players born from 1996 to 2013. When you register your child for EBBA this year, please take some time to think about volunteering. If you are going to be at the games anyways, why not join your child on the field? It is a very rewarding experience, and your child will thank you. Go to ebba.ca to register now!
