United FC is the newest team in the London Ontario Soccer League’s Premier Division. It’s a team that was built from players scouted by its owner/manager throughout the 2015 outdoor season, and through the winter at the BMO Sports Centre.
The goals of the new United FC team include giving the players a soccer experience to equal that of other competitive teams in higher clubs in the region, as well as to represent the local London community. And the inaugural year has proven to be a successful one for the team, which is proudly supported by Lexus of London, Swiss Chalet, Pro Home Contracting, Austin & Taylor, and In2Sports London.
A recent highlight for the team – and for one particularly lucky youth player – was a charity game against Team 519 in support of prostate cancer research. Local youth player Esra Rahman, 12, participated in the game as part of soccer experience with United FC that she won in a silent auction at the Lexus Gala night. Esra played with the United FC squad as her proud mother, Ebru Rahman, the auction winner, watched from the sidelines. The youngster got to keep the complete uniform and a soccer ball signed by the team.
Next season the team is looking forward to participating in more local community activities and to represent the league and its sponsors in a positive way. All of United FC’s players are passionate about the ‘beautiful game,’ and are already looking forward to next season.
United FC players include: Scott Meuller, Ben Thomas, Scott Kernaghan, Claudio Rodrigues, Paul Karigan, Chris Yardley (Captain), Kyle Williams, Mike Pereira, Kashindi Francis, Shawn Uz, Chris Demelo, Romeo Nissan, Bryan Serrador, Mohammed Nabaveih, Scott Gagnon, Tarik Kalajdozic, Cameron Smith, Aid Karagic, Abdu Halbouni, Carlos Cohelo, and Taylor Haid.
