The streak continued for the Western Mustangs men’s squash team, as they won their 33rd consecutive OUA
Men’s Squash Championship earlier this winter at the White Oaks Resort and Spa.
With legendary Western coach Jack Fairs in attendance, the Mustangs continued the unprecedented streak that
began during the 1983-84 season, as well as winning the 43rd men’s title in university history. Western took the top spot with a perfect 6-0 record, followed by Toronto in second at 5-1 and Waterloo in third.
Western took third place in the women’s championship, finishing with a 3-2 record. The Queen’s Gaels won the
title after going 5-0 on the weekend, while Toronto earned silver at 4-1.
The Mustangs men’s team finished off the tournament on Sunday with a 4-2 win over the host Brock Badgers
and a 6-0 victory against Queen’s. Stefan Houbtchev, Farzin Habib Pour, Bryan Hill, and Pierce Masuhara each won their individual matches against the Badgers and then did the same against Queen’s, with Nick Guest and Alex Seto also helping to complete the sweep of the Gaels.
On the women’s side, the purple and white finished the championship with a 6-0 win over Waterloo. Holly
Delavigne, Michaela Khan, Nicola Crich, Karen Lam, Robyn Lewis, and Joanna Macleod each earned the win at their position, and following the tournament Delavigne was also named an OUA All-Star.
