The beginning of the Provincial Season started with the Lisa Alexander Figure Meet held January 17 & 18 in
Toronto with competitors in the Western, Northern and Central areas of the province. It can be an intimidating start to a long competitive season with so many girls from all over the province. Judging by the results of the competitive provincial team, though, the London Synchro club was making waves in all age categories.
Larissa Loucks took home a silver medal in 10U, while teammate Karina Rayburn placed 9th in a field of over 150
swimmers. In the 13-to-15-year-old age group, Bridget Koza took home Silver, Allison Major placed 5th, and Sydney Clarke finished 6th. In an exceptionally tough field, Emelyn Kupinski placed in the top 20 in the 16-20 age group. While these are highlights of the meet, many more of our swimmers had excellent scores and placed in the top percentage of their age ranges.
Next up, the girls headed to the Waterloo Invitational on January 31. Once again, LSC did not disappoint and had
outstanding placements. The LSC 10U team took silver in a field of 11 provincial teams, while the 12U team earned an 8th place finish behind Mississauga. Our 13-15 age group Yellow team was 4th, and our 13-15 Blue team took home gold in an impressive field of 17 provincial teams. Soloist Allison Major took home gold in 13-15 solo, while Bridget Koza and Millie Sweet-Boulay came away with an impressive silver medal in 16-20 duet.
After two back-to-back meets, the girls geared up for West Regionals held in Guelph February 27 & 28. That
meet is a qualifier for the Ontario Age Groups, which is held in Nepean in May. We wish the girls continued success this season!
