On Saturday August 15, the Great Lake Canadians hosted their second annual golf tournament at Pine Knot Golf and Country Club in Dorchester Ontario. We were fortunate enough that it was a nice day, and the support shown throughout was tremendous.
After the golf, dinner and a silent auction took place in the banquet hall, which was hosted by CTV Sports Broadcaster Norm James. Some prizes donated included autographed Rick Nash, Brandon Prust, and Corey Perry jerseys, a game-used David Ortiz bat, and a signed Bobby Orr picture, among other amazing prizes.
Considering that our program is only starting its third season, to see the support not only from family and friends but from the community as well, was truly amazing. The generosity from the people who showed up, along with the hole sponsors and volunteers, showed just how much people care about the kids in our program. We were able to raise a good portion of money, which will go towards helping subsidize player registration costs for the upcoming season.
