The St. Thomas Soccer Club (STSC) takes it one step further, with a continued emphasis on ‘Coaching-the-Coaches.’ They have made a significant investment in their Youth Competitive Coaches by bringing in Technical Advisor Ian McClurg to run Coach Training Sessions 2-3 times per month.

Ian brings experience and strong qualifications, and together with Youth Competitive Technical Coach Phil Trueman has been working hard at ensuring that the coaches have all the best informational and instructional tools available. These training sessions give the Youth Competitive coaches the opportunity to work with, and learn from Ian, while interacting directly with players in well-planned sessions. The knowledge that the coaches are able to draw from these sessions has helped the STSC see early returns.

Robert Meth, STSC Youth Competitive Director, says, “The quality of the training sessions that we’re seeing within the Youth Competitive environment in St Thomas is stronger than we’ve ever seen. That steady improvement can be directly attributed to the continued investments we’re making in our current and future coaches.”

Children are definitely the future. It is the responsibility of those in the present to teach them the skills they will need to move forward in the game.
