Since 1958, the London Minor Football Association has been London’s original and best minor football program. With a place for every child aged 7 to 13, regardless of size, athletic ability or experience, our mission is to prepare players for high school football and create football fans for life.
This spring, the LMFA was proud to see one of our own chosen in the CFL draft, as Alex Pierzchalski was selected in the second round by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Alex learned to love football in the LMFA and then worked hard to become a top receiver for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
For perhaps a future crop of CFL hopefuls, registration for the fall 2014 LMFA season is open now. For the low cost of $250, your registration includes the rental of all football equipment, a jersey to keep, and a team picture. The LMFA is committed to buying the latest and safest football equipment, so you can be assured that every player will be outfitted properly and safely.
Football can teach young athletes many skills that transfer to other sports. Players learn to compete, work together and stay active. The skills taught on the football field are also easily transferable to the basketball court, the baseball diamond and the hockey arena.
Playing multiple sports can also prevent athletes from burning out too soon, which can happen when young athletes focus only on one sport.
All LMFA coaches are dedicated to making football fun for all players, and making sure that every player learns about the rules of the game, as well as safe contact skills. For more information on registration and the 2014 LMFA season, please visit www.lmfafootball.ca, or call 519.852.4465.
