The summer of 2016 was such an exciting time for the sports world. Athletes around the world met up in Rio to compete in the most important competition of their athletic careers – the Olympics. Although the majority of our divers are under aged for the Olympics, they too had their own high level competitions.
Ten young FCDC divers competed at the Tier 1 level at the Jr. Speedo Development and Jr. Speedo Elite Nationals this summer. The majority of our divers achieved top 12 standing in the country, placing FCDC in 6th spot out of 27 clubs across Canada. Congratulations to Julia Parybak for her Silver medal in the Girls C 1m, and to Katelyn Fung for her two Bronze medals on Girls C 3m and Platform.
In the spirit of the Summer Olympics, Mississauga, ON was the host for the 2016 Ontario Summer Games. Nine of our divers participated in the event. FCDC brought home 16 medals (10 Gold, 5 Silver and one Bronze). Congratulations to Nigel Chambers, who won three Gold medals on all boards.
Introducing PLOUF!
The Forest City Diving Club is thrilled to announce a new Learn to Dive program sanctioned by Dive Ontario called PLOUF! This program was designed by Plongeon Quebec and consists of 6 skill levels. The philosophy of the program is to introduce children to the sport of diving and create a life long love for the sport.
