Transitioning to the pitch outdoors

This past indoor season many Eurostar players participated with FC Albania in the local LDYSL league. All of the teams did extremely well, winning several division titles. Training during the indoor season also continued with 3-4 sessions per week. The focus remains on technical skill, ball control and conditioning to help individual players grow in their understanding of the game.

Plans are well underway for the outdoor program. The SAAC league commenced on Saturday, April 9 in Vaughan, and games will continue through to the championship weekend later in November. Competition in the league has expanded this year with two new academies that have been approved from Ottawa and Kingston. Around 50% of Eurostar games will be scheduled locally and played at North London Athletic fields. Some additional highlights for the season ahead include:

• Several Eurostar teams will be participating in tournaments and showcases in Ontario and Northeastern U.S., including Umbro, Empire Cup, and the Columbus Crew Showcase

• Coaches from the Lazio academy will be in London this July to lead training sessions for academy players. They will also offer a soccer camp which is open to all regional players

• Eurostar is happy to welcome Jessie Fleming to the training program. Jessie will be with Eurostar during her ‘time off’ from the women’s national team.

Eurostar is an OSA-recognized Non-Club Academy serving in the London region by offering a year round soccer training experience with the goal of developing strong players for the future.
