More than 60 teams and 600 swimmers competed at the 2016 Ontario Masters Swimming Championship on April 1-3, and when the water settled, the Middlesex Masters swimmers were fifth in the province and #1 out of all teams from Southwestern Ontario.
A total of 31 Middlesex swimmers competed at this year’s Masters event, which was held at the Markham Pan Am Centre. And an impressive 76 medals were won by the Middlesex team, including 32 gold, 23 silver, and 21 bronze. Every member of the team scored point with a top 8 finish, thus contributing to the team’s fifth-place showing overall and #1 in Southwestern Ontario.
The individual highlight for the Middlesex team was a provincial record set by Terri MacDougall in (female 50-54 category) in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:23.31.
